It’s fucking cold in today in Brooklyn. Cold enough to wear three pairs of pants and slippers that look like swollen potatoes. But, you know what? It’s summer in the other hemisphere, and this song is like Tame Impala collective doing xanax with Floral Shoppe on an Australian beach. Mark Ronson’s production is in no hurry: the song lazily muddles in a lagoon of pornographic guitars and heavily reverberated percussion. “Summer Breaking” is far removed (both geographically and metaphorically) from my freezing apartment, and it still manages to evoke warmth and beach vibes.
