VHVL: Ithrgy

VHVL_EMPATHY

Introducing VHVL, Harlem-based producer Veronica Lauren with a new track entitled “Ithrgy”. It’s the first track off her upcoming EP EMPTHY, which you can expect to see in January via Yellow Year Records. Let’s keep the introductions short and sweet here – clicky clicky!

I feel like I’m speeding through a barren futuristic landscape on some sort of mag-rail with excellent window visibility.

The track begins with a meaty bass synth and plinking high-register riffing (sounds like guitar, but I’m not sure). Around a minute in, we’re treated to an uptempo percussion layer to complement the more spacey undertones. Midway through, I feel like I’m speeding through a barren futuristic landscape on some sort of mag-rail with excellent window visibility. The vibe isn’t quite as arctic as Ben Frost, but one might compare the sort of tonal neutrality (non-humanness?) and progressive ambiance and not feel too far off the mark. The track simultaneously opens up into a barely-tonal ambient soundscape and preserves a steady cadence filled to the brim with kinetic energy, which isn’t something I get to say about singles very often. I’ll definitely be keeping an ear out for more of this.
